NavigAID SjS: Patient stratification for Sjögren’s syndrome (SjS)
NavigAID SjS is a patient stratification tool that measures serum autoantibody levels in Sjögren’s patients, in order to help to characterize the immunological processes underlying the disease and help facilitate the development of more effective therapies.
SjS is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks moisture-producing glands (such as tear ducts and salivary glands), leading to a wide range of debilitating symptoms. These symptoms include dryness (for example of the eyes and mouth), inflammation and joint pain, and an increased risk of developing lymphoma and other life-threatening cancers.
One of the most common rheumatic autoimmune disease, SjS has so far proven challenging to characterize, impeding the development of effective therapies by the pharmaceutical industry.
Protagen has developed a patient stratification tool (NavigAID SjS) to help pharmaceutical companies advance novel SjS therapeutics. Stratifying patients using NavigAID SjS will help to characterize the immunological processes underlying the disease, and will also help facilitate the development of more effective drugs to increase the chance of therapeutic success.
